Warsaw University of Life Sciences - Campaign in Poland

Recognized for its expertise in nutrition research, the Warsaw University of Life Sciences has launched a project to prevent and fight against the health hazards of a poor diet. Facilitating and encouraging the adoption of good habits from an early age will have a positive effect on the health and well-being of the entire population.

The "ABC of Healthy Eating" program, supported by Carrefour Polska and the Carrefour Foundation, through awareness workshops and multimedia courses led by nutrition experts with children, their parents and the elderly, aims to develop balanced meals adapted to income, tips on how to avoid food waste and learning how to decode nutritional information on packages.

An educational website was also created to allow side access to information to the general public: http://www.abczywienia.pl

In addition to providing the necessary foodstuff and material to workshops, Carrefour participate actively in the project by informing consumers on their food choices.

In 2016, more than 800 children and elderly people were trained in eight cities in Poland including Warsaw, Krakow and Poznan, and 240 workshops were conducted by 79 professors, academics and nutrition experts.

Information, education and prevention in order to change poor eating habits. Our thematic workshops and awareness campaigns aim to help people appreciate the benefits of a more balanced diet, to warn them of the risks of developing serious eating disorders and to encourage better prevention.

Inaugurated on the 10th of October 2017, the third edition of the programme will continue the awareness campaign for the families in partnership with 7 Polish research institutes. Besides, an educational mobile app for parents and children will be soon developped.
