Toy donations in solidarity campaign

Carrefour Reus held a Christmas toy donation campaign on behalf of the city’s underprivileged children and their families.

The total donation came to 10,000 euros: 5,000 from the toys donated by shoppers and the corresponding 5,000 euros promised by Carrefour Reus. After the collection, the Reus branch of the Red Cross distributed the toys among over 400 underprivileged and/or at risk of exclusion families.

The initiative, which was held on 21 and 22 December in the Carrefour hypermarket in Reus, was organized with the cooperation of the local police forces and the Reus branch of the Red Cross as part of the social action projects pursued by Carrefour Spain.

The toys were collected in special donation boxes staffed by Red Cross volunteers in the hypermarket. Volunteers were also posted at the entrance to the hypermarket and in the toys section to inform shoppers of the solidarity initiative.

In another section of the supermarket, members of the local police forces took part in games and leisure workshops with children who had earlier donated toys.

Our customers donated €5371.60 worth of toys in this solidarity initiative! This clearly exceeded all our expectations at the outset. Together with the contribution made by Carrefour, we have managed to ensure that the children of Reus will have a happier Christmas. I’m very proud that this initiative generated so much support on a local level, and especially because of the positive comments made by customers of the store these last few days.
