Once again, Carrefour France has been at the forefront in supporting the AFM-Telethon organisation in its annual campaign to raise donations. Stores held dozens of events to encourage staff and customers to contribute to the battle against rare diseases. The hypermarkets in Châlons-en-Champagne (Marne) produced a huge fresco on the square in front of the Town Hall using five tonnes of vegetables!
A live hand-over of a cheque for €300,000
At a national level, three catalogue items were stamped with “Telethon”, and a set amount was paid over for each product purchased on 7 and 8 December. Customers could choose between a bouquet of flowers, a bag of choux pastry balls sprinkled with sugar and a hamper of fine oysters. For the first time, Carrefour also organised a huge operation whereby hostesses handed out coupons that could be used to donate at the check-out.
Staff at the Massy, Evry and Lyon headquarters were also invited to take part in a Great Solidarity Race on 6 December. On foot, by bike or on a treadmill, the reward was the same: a donation of €5 for every kilometre covered. A cheque for a total of €300,000 was presented to AFM-Telethon by Carrefour France on Friday evening, live on France Télévisions.
