China Children and Teenagers’ Foundation (CCTF)

Help for orphans in rural China with CCTF

Created in 1981, CCTF (China Children and Teenagers’ Foundation) aims to implement long-term solutions to respond to development and health problems in children.

Nearly 250 million workers are forced to leave the countryside to to work in cities, and nearly 60 million children live without their parents. To overcome this problem, CCTF has set up a project to fight against malnutrition and school failure of "left behind" children in rural areas. 150 "Happy homes" or welcome centers will be established and well equipped in the most affected regions : Sichuan, Henan, Anhui and Hunan

Each centercan accommodate up to 100 children / month / center and educators will organize educational and recreational activities, including on nutrition and sport, in a safe and friendly environment.

The Foundation grant will thereby enable the association to create 8 new centers between 2015 and 2017, equip and organize workshops.

On 1 June 2015, during International Children's Day, Carrefour China opened the first of the "Happy Centers" funded by the Foundation! The launch took place in Beijing.

On 10 September, the second "Happy Centers" was inaugurated by Carrefour China at the Hengde primary school in Shanghai.

Following the success of the first two centers, a third one was recently inaugurated on June 1, 2016 in Anhui, always on the occassion of International Children's Day and a fourth one on September 19th in Guizhou.

The Carrefour Foundation is proud to support the "Happy Centers" in China, through which nearly 500 children have monthly access to a welcoming space for them to grow in an environment adapted to their needs despite the remoteness of their families.

Carrefour China will also provide facilities for these centers (computers, school supplies, phones, food, sporting goods), and 100 Carrefour employees are volunteering at these centres by taking part in activities each week.

And since August, Carrefour has been collecting donations of books in 6 Chinese provinces. In one month, more than 6000 books were donated which thousands of children are going to be able to enjoy.
