Foundation management

The operational team of the Foundation reports back to the Board of Directors three times a year.

It oversees and monitors the selected actions, making sure they are implemented with

the appropriate expertise.

M. Laurent Vallée

46-year-old, graduated from ESSEC, Institut d’Etudes Politique and the Ecole Nationale d’Administration. He began his career as a member of the Conseil d'État, France’s administrative supreme court, where he was notably Government Commissioner and Constitutional Adviser to the General Secretary of the government. In 2008 he joined the law firm Clifford Chance.

In 2010 he was appointed director of civil affairs at the Justice Ministry. From 2013 to 2015 he served as general counsel at Canal + group. In 2015 he was appointed general secretary of the Conseil Constitutionnel, France’s constitutional court. 

In 2017, he joined the Groupe Carrefour as General Secretary.

Sophie Fourchy-Spiesser

Sophie Fourchy qualified as an agronomist at ISTOM (the College of Advanced Studies in International Agro-Development). She is also a specialist in rural development, was awarded an ENSA master’s degree from the Ecole Supérieur d’Agronomie de Montpellier devoted to the analysis of economic and agricultural policies in international development processes, and is currently studying sanitary and social law (DEA, a postgraduate qualification). She also runs research and aid programmes for economic and social development in rural areas as part of support projects for the organization of organic subsidiaries and fair-trade activities in South Africa, Ecuador, Brazil and Bolivia.Fourchy has helped to define and manage the activities of the Carrefour Foundation since March 2001. This humanitarian organization aims to combat exclusion in international urban areas, provide logistical support during international disasters, and support reconstruction programmes.She also took part in an expedition to the Antarctic (2000) as part of a filmed assignment for National Geographic.

Anyka Batista

After earning two Masters in Economy and Foreign Languages from Paris 1-Panthéon Sorbonne, Anyka Batista entered Carrefour in 2005 as a Trilingual Translator in the Information Systems Department of the Group. She then continued her career in the Group successively at Internal Audit and at Human Ressources where she worked as an Expatriation manager for the Asia zone. At the Foundation since November 2010, Anyka is now in charge of international projects.

Margo Palmer

Graduate of a BSc in Politics and International Relations at the University of Bath, UK and a Social Research Masters at Sciences Po Paris, Margo joins the Foundation after several professional experiences with homeless populations, offenders and ex-offenders in London and Paris.

Cécile Avena

Project manager

Enrolled in an International Development graduating programme at Sciences Po, Cécile Avena has joined the foundation for six months. She was previously working for the French Ministry of Solidarities and Health on the National Food Forum (Etats Généraux de l'Alimentation - EGA) and food security issues.
