On Monday May 19, 2014, Carrefour Brazil launched, in partnership with the Salvation Army, a clothes collection campaign to help children and adults living in precarious situations and not prepared to face the cold which falls down on the south of the country between June and August. 84 stores and distribution centers located in the States of Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Rio Grande C Sul and of Paraná, as well as the head office, took part in the campain. Collaborators and customers could deposit new or second-hand clothes in cases, which then are redistributed through the 27 reception centres held by the association all over the territory.
The operation was a success. Nearly 800 cases, that is to say more than 87,500 items being equivalent to 36 tons of clothing were collected.
