Mediaset España, a Spanish television network, and Carrefour Spain have been able to deliver 230,000 meals to Food Banks to help children in danger of being excluded from society – thanks to sales of charity footballs on the country’s “Los Manolos” sports programmeThe money raised has been supplemented by food donated during the Pachanga solidaria (charity festival). This festival was held to coincide with a football match between Mediaset España, journalists and Carrefour employees!
The Food Banks received the food donations that were made possible thanks to money generated by sales of the “Charity Football”. These footballs have been on sale in 174 Carrefour stores throughout Spain since the campaign was launched in May by Manu Carreño and Manolo Lama, two of Spain's sports presenters.
Thanks to the popularity of “Los Manolos" among the general public, the high-profile nature of Mediaset's campaign during the Football World Cup in Brazil and the involvement of Carrefour's employees alongside the Foundation, the aim has been met: give thousands of children access to essential food items!
