Carrefour promotes the integration of disadvantaged youth

Carrefour Brazil believes in the capacity of young people to play an active role in shaping their own destiny. This is why the group appreciates and supports the work of non-profit organisations that offer facilities for young people to express themselves, discover new opportunities and enter the world of work.

In 2012, with support from the Carrefour Foundation, Carrefour Brazil chose the Conexão programme to be its principal partner to foster employment for jobless youth throughout the country. The aim of the project is to offer young people from disadvantaged communities vocational training that will enable them to enter the jobs market. Following on from the success of this partnership, the Foundation agreed to renew its support for the project in 2013 by backing the creation of a programme specifically aimed at training for careers in the food trades (butcher, fishmonger, baker, etc.).

In addition to this flagship project, Carrefour Brazil supported four local projects in 2012 offering training in social skills, through Federal tax incentive legislation.
